An artificial tree trunk made of plastic mesh covered with mosses and mounted on a stake that sticks into the ground so it doesn’t fall over when it gets heavy with blooms and fruit (this is called an “air root” because it grows from the bottom up instead of from the top down). You can also grow moth orchids on real trees if they produce aerial roots.

1. Light source – Remember that orchids are like other plants. This means that they need sunlight. But don’t be confused, they need “indirect” sunlight. Observe its leaves to check if your plant is getting the right amount of light. Ideally, it should have a bright green colour. It isn’t getting the right amount of light if it is dark green. On the other hand, if it is becoming yellowish, you should get it out of the sun.

2. Temperature – The quality of moth orchids is sensitive to temperature changes. But, it is more adaptable to higher temperatures than low. The ideal temperature for these plants is between 75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. But, as the plane is blooming, you should maintain the temperature at 70 degrees.

3. Water supply – The downside of these plants is that they can’t store water. The reason is that aside from their leaves this plant just uses the water without storing any. This means that you should choose the right potting medium for your plants. This will be the one that will hold the water and maintain the overall well-being of the plant. Also, you should remember that depending on the potting mixture, you should water your plants regularly.

4. Humidity – This will also play an important part in your journey to growing moth orchids. You see, moth orchids love humidity in the areas of 55 and 75 per cent. So maintain it here because if you drop to below 50%, then there is a chance that flowers may drop prematurely. As a remedy, you can use an air humidifier.

How to deal with pests?

Pests are problems most of the time. But you can treat this by wiping the leaves or flowers with a soft cloth soaked in soapy water.
